Etymologically, “Pan-Eu- Rhythmy” is derived from three roots:
Pan – meaning Whole; Universal and Cosmic
Eu – meaning True harmony
Rhythmy – meaning correctness in the movements and in every other external expression in life. The prefix “pan” denotes that this is the expression of a rhythm present in the whole of nature and underlying the whole of creation. According to this etymological derivation, Paneurhythmy can be translated as Cosmic Harmony and Rhythm. It is a method for transformation. The musical exercises are ideas in movement. The movements of Paneurhythmy connect us with that Cosmic Harmony of Rhythm that underlies, builds and organizes the entire Universe. Planets circle counter-clockwise around the Sun, as in the circle of the Paneurhythmy.
The movements embody concepts such as liberation, befriending the best in each other, and uniting the creative with the constructive principles in life. Paneurhythmy is performed to Divine music, which has a healing power all of its own. Paneurhythmy’s musical vibrations bring life, joy and health. Through the Paneurhythmy movements, the music permeates the body much deeper to heal and reorganize it.
This powerful synergy of music, movement and lyrics has healing and rejuvenating powers. These forces unite body, mind, heart and spirit and awaken our consciousness to the interconnectedness of life. Performed in the early morning, the movements connect us directly to the life-sustaining forces in nature when the earth and our bodies are most receptive to solar energy. They kindle dormant powers in our souls and radiate into the world energies that pave the way for the new age of understanding and love.
